06 — Residential
New South Wales
2025
A generous family home in northern New South Wales, renovated internally to honour its original architect-designed plan. Rather than reworking good bones, the project celebrates them, re-dressing the interiors to renew the house for contemporary living.
The double-height living space opens to a north-facing courtyard, with a Japanese-influenced timber screen admitting filtered afternoon light.
Internally the home is lined in pale timber, detailed with the precision of joinery rather than construction. Storage disappears into the walls, and rooms borrow light and volume from one another.
The Nook is a study in restraint: recognising the quality of what exists, and knowing precisely how much, and how little, to change.
